GGMUG Meeting THIS Thursday (June 10, 2010)
Our June meeting will be this Thursday, June 10, 2010 in our usual place and at our usual time:
- 6:30 PM
- Gwinnett Technical College
- Building 100
- Room 401
This month we're fortunate to have Glen Gordon from Microsoft doing a deeper dive into Windows Phone 7 development. He will even have a REAL Windows Phone 7 device to show us!
Windows Phone and the Cloud
Glen Gordon Microsoft Developer Evangelist and Possesser Of A Windows Phone 7 Actual Device...
Come learn about how easily Windows Phone 7 lets you create experiences for users that leverage the power of the cloud. We’ll start by looking at using the Microsoft Location Service for obtaining location information and the Microsoft Push Notification Service to provide “live” updates for apps running on the device. We’ll also look at incorporating Windows Azure cloud services into your Windows Phone 7 applications.
Third Annual GGMUG Contest!
As was announced at the last meeting, our contest for this year will be to develop the best Windows Phone 7 app.
More details will be announced later, but in a nutshell you have to attend at least two GGMUG meetings (including the October 2010 meeting) to be eligible. You can create either a Silverlight or XNA app that runs in the Phone 7 Emulator. You will get to demo your app at the October meeting and we will have a vote of all members in attendance.
Ties will be decided by either an additional vote or a dance-off depending on the mood and whims of the mob, er members in attendance.
If you would like to enter, please email me at info@ggmug.com and let me know you are interested.
There will be prizes, but I don't yet know what they will be...
Give Camp
I've mentioned the Give Camp we are planning for the Atlanta area, and we are getting very close to having a venue locked down. If all goes well the event will occur in January. More info on that one as soon as we get official confirmation.
There will also be a Give Camp in Augusta this August. I would love to have a GGMUG team head down there, so if you think you would interested in a road trip with a purpose, please email me ASAP to let me know you want to go. We need about 5 or 6 people to make a team.
I'd also like to get an idea of who would like to be on the team for the Atlanta area Give Camp.
In either case, just send me an email at info@ggmug.com and let me know you are interested.
See You Thursday!
