  • Accessing A Database From ASP.Net

GGMUG June Meeting on 6/11/09 @ 6:30 PM

GGMUG June Meeting on 6/11/09 @ 6:30 PM

Hope everyone has had a great month! We'll be having our next meeting on Thursday, June 11, at 6:30 PM in room 401 of building 100 at Gwinnett Tech. This is our usual room.

This month's speaker is Lucas Vogel from End Point Systems. He'll be presenting An introduction to Figaro - the XML Database for the .NET Framework. Lucas will take a technical look at the database and how you can embed it in your apps.

Here's a clip from their website:

Figaro is a is an embedded XML database library API specifically designed for .NET developers to quickly and easily build XML solutions. Figaro embeds the Berkeley DB XML (BDB XML) database engine and inherits the rich features and attributes of the Berkeley DB database engine. Like Oracle's product, Figaro runs in-process with the application with no need for human administration. Figaro provides a document parser, XML indexer, and XQuery engine on top of Oracle Berkeley DB XML to enable the fastest, reliable, scalable, and most efficient retrieval of data.

Hope everyone can make it to the meeting, and I look forward to seeing you there.

Call For Speakers

For July we will be doing another "Short Session" evening. If you have a topic you would like to present in the 20-30 minute range, just send me an email and let me know. These are a great way to get your feet wet with technical presentations since they are only 20 minutes or so long. Shorter is OK, too.

GGMUG Speaker Idol coming this October

This October's meeting will be our first ever Speaker Idol contest. The full rules will be posted later, but in a nutshell you have NO MORE than 5 minutes to present a technical topic and win over the judges. Go over the time limit and YOU ARE OUT! Not an easy task, but there will be very cool prizes. The other big rule is that YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST ONE PRIOR GGMUG MEETING.

Wintellect Is Looking For A VSTS/TFS Consultant

May Meeting And Get On The Bus!

4/27/2009 jeffa

May Meeting on 5/14/09 in Room 401 @ 6:30 PM

Great meeting on tap for May. Shawn Wildermuth will be taking us on a Lap Around Silverlight 3. I'm very excited about the new features in Silverlight 3 and Shawn is an A++ speaker. Do NOT miss this meeting!

Get On The Bus!

THIS Saturday (May, 2nd) Microsoft's Born To Learn crew will be making a stop at Gwinnett Tech to talk about the cool happenings coming up at Tech Ed and to talk about Microsoft Certifications.

Why Should I Attend?

The number ONE reason is because you want to learn about what's coming on the IT Pro side of things and to learn how you can work with Microsoft and Gwinnett Tech to get the certifications you crave!

The number TWO reason is to help me serve coffee to all the bus riders and folks who are coming from colleges around Georgia. This is a great chance for us to publicize GGMUG and to give a little back to Gwinnett Tech who have been such wonderful sponsors and hosts for our group.

The event is scheduled from 9 am until 12 PM. Anyone who wants to help with coffee can email me, and we'll plan on setting up around 8. I'm guessing I only need 2 or 3 people to help.

Thanks in advance to all our volunteers!

I look forward to seeing you all Saturday and on the 9th!</>
